Board of Directors
Karen Katz has served on our board of directors since February 2021 and as Chairperson since February 2024. As the former CEO of Neiman Marcus Group, Ms. Katz brings over 30 years of deep luxury and retail experience. Among her accomplishments, Katz leveraged Neiman Marcus’ brick-and-mortar presence (40+ Neiman Marcus stores, Bergdorf Goodman in New York and the Last Call Off-Price division) to launch its omnichannel strategy, integrating customers’ online and in-store experiences through technology and personalization. She also led the 2014 acquisition of luxury e-commerce retailer, Mytheresa (January 2021 public offering), scaling its e-commerce offerings to support Neiman Marcus’ omnichannel strategy. Katz also currently serves on the Board of Directors at Under Armour and Humana, and chairs StreetTrend.
Rati Sahi Levesque has served as our President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors since October 2024. Previously, Rati served as President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of The RealReal. As President and COO, Rati oversaw all of the Company’s revenue channels and operations, including its authentication center and retail footprint, and led the merchandising, editorial and creative vision of the company. Prior to this
position, she served as Chief Merchant, responsible for the Company’s merchandising and sales strategy, warehouse operations, and engineering team. As The RealReal’s first employee, Rati has an unmatched understanding of the company, buyer and consignor preferences, and our employee experience. Prior to joining The RealReal, Rati was an entrepreneur in the fashion-tech industry. Her experience successfully launching a luxury consignment company laid the
groundwork for her early contributions to The RealReal. She previously worked in the financial industry and graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in Economics. Rati’s thought leadership has been featured in prominent fashion publications including Vogue, ELLE, Fashionista, Glossy, and Coveteur, and she has been recognized as an industry leader by several industry organizations. She was featured in the second annual Glossy 50 list, as well as in Internet Retailer’s Hot 100 issue; spoke at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Next Gen Summit; and was recognized by Luxury Daily as one of their Luxury Women to Watch. Rati resides in San Francisco with her husband and two children.
Caretha Coleman has served on our board of directors since August 2020. Ms. Coleman currently is Principal of Coleman Consulting and serves as Chairman of Dignity Community Care, which is now part of the merged CommonSpirit Health, and as Board Member of Virdris Learning.
She brings more than 40 years of experience in the technology industry working with early stage ventures to public companies on organizational strategy development and executive coaching and effectiveness. Among her accomplishments is Software Publishing Corporation, where she played an integral role, as Chief Human Resources Officer, in pioneering one of the earliest successful desktop computer software businesses. As one of Silicon Valley’s first female technology executives of color, Ms. Coleman has spent decades advocating for women and minorities in business and cultivating diverse communities outside of the workplace.
Ms. Coleman serves as the Chair of The RealReal's Compensation, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
Carol Melton has served on our board of directors since August 2020. Ms. Melton is currently CEO and Founder of Adeft Capital. She brings extensive experience in global public policy, having held leadership roles at two international media and entertainment companies. Most recently, Ms. Melton served as Executive Vice President for Global Public Policy at Time Warner Inc., where she managed interactions with governments worldwide and was instrumental in garnering approvals for the company’s various merger transactions. Before that, Ms. Melton was Executive Vice President of Global Government Relations at Viacom, where she helped lead its original acquisition of CBS Corp in 1999 and then managed policy operations for the combined companies. Ms. Melton serves on the board of JBG Smith (NYSE: JBGS) and the Economic Club of Washington, D.C., and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Ms. Melton serves on The RealReal's Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee.
Chip Baird III has served on our board of directors since June 2018. Mr. Baird is the Co-Founder and a Managing Partner of GreyLion Capital LP. Prior to GreyLion, Mr. Baird was a Partner at Perella Weinberg Partners where in 2012, he co-founded the PWP Growth Equity strategy which spun out into GreyLion Capital in 2020. Mr. Baird has been in the private equity industry for over 20 years and has extensive experience across a wide range of industries, having served on the boards of over 20 portfolio companies. Prior to Perella Weinberg Partners, Mr. Baird was a Partner at Weston Presidio. Previously, Mr. Baird was a private equity investor with The Beacon Group where he focused on business and industrial services, energy, and general manufacturing companies. Mr. Baird began his career in the Investment Banking Division at Merrill Lynch, working on mergers and acquisitions, high-yield financings and public equity offerings. Mr. Baird received his BS in Finance and International Business from Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
Mr. Baird was selected to our board of directors because of his experience in finance and capital structure. Mr. Baird serves as Chair of The RealReal's Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee and is a member of its Compensation, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
James R. Miller has served on our board of directors since May 2019. Mr. Miller currently serves as Chief Technology Officer of Wayfair. Previously, Mr. Miller served as the Chief Executive Officer of AREVO, from February 2018 to January 2019, and Vice President, Global/Worldwide Operations of Google, an internet service and products company, from July 2010 to February 2018. Mr. Miller has served on the board of directors of Wayfair, an ecommerce home goods company, since July 2016, and DocuSign, an electronic signature company, since March 2014. Mr. Miller also serves on the boards of a number of private companies. He has also previously served on the board of directors of Corporate Eco Forum, a corporate sustainability organization, from July 2008 to June 2018. Mr. Miller holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
Mr. Miller serves on the The RealReal's Audit Committee.
Niki Leondakis has served on our board of directors since April 2019. Ms. Leondakis currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer at CorePower Yoga, the largest yoga studio chain in the United States with over 200 studios, a position she has held since January 2020. Previously, Ms. Leondakis served as President of The Wolff Resident experience Company, a real estate hospitality company, from February 2019 to January 2020, as Chief Executive Officer of Equinox Fitness Clubs at Equinox Holdings, a luxury fitness company, from March 2017 to July 2018, as Chief Executive Officer of Hotels and Resorts at Two Roads Hospitality, a lifestyle hotel hospitality company, from November 2012 to March 2017 and as President and Chief Operating Officer of Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants from September 1993 to November 2012.
Ms. Leondakis was selected to serve on our board of directors because of her executive skills and understanding of quality customer experience.
Ms. Leondakis serves on The RealReal's Compensation, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee.
Rob Krolik has served on our board of directors since January 2019. Mr. Krolik currently serves as the General Partner and Chief Financial Officer of Burst Capital, a venture capital investment firm, a position he has held since October 2018.
Previously, Mr. Krolik served as the Chief Financial Officer of Yelp, an online platform company that connects people with local businesses, from July 2011 to May 2016. Mr. Krolik also serves on the boards of a number of private companies. Mr. Krolik holds a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and is a certified public accountant (inactive).
Mr. Krolik also serves as the Chair of the Audit Committee.
